Yirou 毅柔 is a visual artist born in Pinghu, China, and currently based in Boston and Shanghai.
She holds a BFA in Visual Media Arts from Emerson College in Boston. Her work spans a variety of mediums—including, but not limited to, analog film and photography—with a strong focus on hybrid and experimental forms.
Currently, she is expanding her practice into graphic design and ceramics.
Describing her approach as “experimental” in analog film and mixed media, she hopes to explore the possibilities of expression and materials. Guided by intuition, her work merges personal narratives with social context, navigating the space between past and present, and evoking a feeling of being suspended between adolescence and adulthood. She embraces process and imperfection, constructing a visual language rooted in daily life.
