Yirou 毅柔 is a visual artist born in Pinghu, China and currently based in the United States.

She holds a BFA in Visual Media Arts from Emerson College in Boston. Her work spans a variety of mediums—including but not limited to analog film and film photography—with a strong focus on hybrid and experimental forms.

Currently, she is expanding her practice into printmaking and ceramics, embracing processes that allow for chance and error poetically.

Describing her approach as “experimenting,” Yirou works with analog film and mixed media to explore the material and emotional possibilities of image-making. Guided by intuition, her work merges personal narratives with different textures, navigating the space between memory and the present, childhood and adulthood. She embraces process and imperfection, constructing a visual language rooted in materiality.
